SPIRITUAL HOLIDAYS
KRISHNA VALLEY – HUNGARY
20th July 2014 – 26th July 2014
In a remote corner of Hungary, in the vicinity of the Balaton Lake, a small, ecologically and spiritually oriented village community called Krishna Völgyi (trans. Krishna Valley) was established in the mid-90s of the last century. There are more than 150 members living in Krishna Völgy today.
Here, life goes according to different guidelines and in a different rhythm. Everyday life is filled with activities, beneficial for the mind and body, with the aim to gain our full potential at the end of this path..
While children play, or study in their own school, called Gurukula, the adults work in the field, in the woods, restaurant, temple, or wherever their diligent hands are needed. This is a self-sustainability and ecology, specificaly famous for its high standards based on ancient Indian – Vedic scriptures.
A special feature of the program we’ll experience in this spiritually oriented, ecological community, is a daily morning program, followed by meditation dancing and singing in the temple before the beautiful deities of Sri Sri Radha Shyamasundar. The morning spiritual lecture will be followed by a vegetarian breakfast. Organic food and delicious meals, made with love, are well know beyond the borders of Hungary. Divine flavours have never left anyone indifferent.
In the mornings there will be interesting workshops. Each week of our spiritual holidays will have a different theme (Ayurveda, permaculture, inner spiritual judge and Wisdom of the East seminar).
Rich variety of events throughout the day will be closed with dinner, and the evenings will be devoted to singing songs and mantras in the temple in a calm, spiritual atmosphere.
In addition to the activities that we will be available in the Krishna Valley, we can drive daily to Lake Balaton for swimming (25 minutes long drive), go sightseeing at nearby places and tourist attractions.
.
Our group will be settled in the immediate vicinity of the community Krsna Völgyi, in the village of Somogyvamos, which is the only a 10-minute walk away from the community. This way we can take part in educational, cultural and spiritual programs implemented in the community on a daily basis, food will be provided for us there as well, but at the same time we’ll have the privacy and we’ll be able to socialize within our group.
In typical Hungarian houses there are appartments and rooms available. There are rooms with one-, two-, three-or more-beds, such accomodation can also mean sharing a bathroom.
In addition to the village basic infrastructure there are the also a kindergarten, school, local shop, tavern, two churches, and most importantly: very friendly people.
Both the accommodation and the Krishna valley allow a complete retreat from the stress of everyday life and offer us to calm our minds, look inward, and experience something entirely new.

Field Trip Descriptions:
General information about the village of Somogyvamos and Krishna Valley: Somogyvamos is a small village, away from the modern traffic flows, a place where more than 15 years ago an organically and spiritually oriented estate Krsna Völgyi (trans. Krishna Valley) was established. There’s a more than 250 hectares big self-sustainable farm, where cca. 150 people live in accordance with the laws of nature. The entire estate is organized based on the ancient Vedic principles, which are based on the protection of human rights and animal rights, and what is described best by the words of the the spiritual master, Srila Prabhupada, who emphasized “simple living, high thinking”. Community is well known and loved throughout the territory of Hungary, their trademark is famous and delicious vegetarian dishes from their home-grown products. The hosts are always pleased to show us around the property so we can familiarize ourselves with their way of living, farming and education.
General information about Lake Balaton: Lake Balaton is located in the western part of Hungary and is also the largest lake in Central Europe. It was named after the Zala river, which was once called Mud, probably due to the marshes at its mouth into the lake; and after the nearby Balaton Kostel, which was the center of Pribinova and Koclja Slavic principality of Lower Pannonia. The lake is at an altitude of 104 m, its surface area is 592 km2, on average, it’s 3.2 m deep, with a maximum of 11 m. The lake is an elongated shape, its length is about 77 km, and its width is from 4 to 15 km.
Keszthely is an elegant resort town on the west coast of Lake Balaton. The city is known for its first Faculty of Agriculture in Europe, boasting a wonderful Baroque castle of the Hungarian noble family of Croatian origin Festetics. In the castle you can see one of the rich museum collections, you can stroll along the landscaped English and French park with more than 50 different tree species, or visit the marzipan museum near the castle. In Keszthely, which is also known as the capital of Balaton, we’ll walk through the old town center and along the coast of Lake Balaton.
Heviz is the most important center of the Hungarian and Central European spa tourism. The place is also known as a spa destination of the younger generation. Héviz spa lake is the largest and a very unique thermal lake in Europe. During the summer the water temperature in the lake, which is popular as a swimming destination, goes up to 36 ° C and in winter the water temperature drops below 22 ° C, therefore many visitors come also in winter time.
Siofok is a city on the southern shore of Lake Balaton in Šomod County and one of the main Hungarian tourist destinations, known for its trendy beaches. It is also the seat of one of the richest municipalities in Hungary, due to tourist activities. In 1863 there was an artificial channel made in Siofok and it connects Lake Balaton and the Danube River. This enabled the regulation of the level of the lake, which has not had a natural estuary. The channel has also enabled the water connection and the ship route between the Danube and Lake Balaton. Hungarians often call the city “the capital of Balaton” because it is the largest town on the lake shore and a commercial and tourist center of the region.
Kaposvar is the capital and the administrative, economic, cultural and educational center of the Šomod County. The legend goes that it was founded on seven hills (as Rome), and it has been setlled for at least 5000 years. The first name – Kapos – was recorded in the episcopal documents in Peč (today’s southern Hungary) in 1009. For 131 years it was under Ottoman Empire (1555 to 1686), and in 1749 it became the most important city in the country. Faster development was seen in the 19th century with the construction of the railway from Budapest to Zagreb. It has approximately 50,000 inhabitants, and since 1993 also has a cathedral seat of the Bishops of the Roman Catholic Church. The Kaposvar University was founded 1.1.2000.
Krsna Valley Sightseeing: We will visit the estate and the main infrastructure and become familiar with the way of life, work, agriculture and education in this ecologically and spiritually oriented village community. We will visit the central part of the estate, the temple dedicated to Krishna and his companion Radharana, and also a number of small, dedicated corners in nature, talking about their many adventures. We will get acquainted with spiritual practices of our hosts, and try it out ourselves of course.
Eco Market: at the end of the week, before going home, we will be able to attend an organic market and choose from products grown or produced by Krsna Valley residents and farmers from the village but Smogyvamos. Organically grown vegetables and fruits, oil, flour and other products that are produced and made with love, are certainly something that anyone who is conscious about healthy food and natural lifestyle can sincerely appreciate.
Descriptions of thematic workshops:
Thematic Workshop The Wisdom of the East: At least five thousand years old wisdom enshrined in the Vedas, we will reveal the incredible depth and precision of the ancient knowledge of the world, man and God, that our modern scientific discoveries increasingly confirm. We will discuss the nature, reincarnation, karma, time, consciousness, and yoga. This seemingly complex knowledge will be presented to us by an expert and teacher of bhakti yoga Tomaz Humar (Tapta Kančanadi Prabhu), who has been living and preaching the bhakti yoga for many years, both in Slovenia and around the world.
Thematic Workshop EFT techniques of self-healing: Kristjan Kolega learned the EFT techniques of self-healing and NLP techniques from books written by different authors and scientists from this area. He tested the technique on himself, because at a certain period of his life he succumbed to pains in the lower back, shoulders and spine, that almost literally chained him to his bed. With self-healing techniques that you will learn during his EFT workshops, he succeeded to heal himself to the point that the pain was gone in a relatively short time (in a few months) Participate in the thematic workshops and take care of your health in the best possible way, with the prevention and cure that these techniques allow.
